Last Saturday’s “a nice evening with friends” gathering was magical. Stellar performances, funny banter, warm atmosphere, a super-attentive audience – the works! Much thanks to Tiny Mountains, Dog is Blue, Pat Le Poidevin for performing at their very best – and to all our supporters who hung on every word! We look forward to hosting you again in the not-so-distant future!

GO Habitat Toronto!

Last night our friend Sonia hosted a very successful silent auction fundraiser party for Habitat Toronto. She raffled off some pretty sweet prizes – including a one-night stay in a luxury suite at the Royal York Hotel – and auctioned-off her own beautiful photos. A generous crowd, good food, fun times – and we rasied lots of cash for Habitat! Way to go, Sonia! And big thanks to everybody who supported the cause! And thanks to Joey and everybody else who helped set up the show!

Project 165 strikes back with another edition of Nuit Noir – a free non-Nuit Blanche party featuring a band on the hour every hour punctuated by performance art, comedy and other actions from dusk til dawn + all-night special coffee service to help you stay up to see the light.

* Nuit Noir II celebrates creative indulgence, “undefiled wisdom”
and the vital existence of unsanctioned cultural activity during
Toronto’s most artful night of spectacle. As a point of resistance – and a point of no return -
this is an opportunity to show that “the best this creative city has
to offer” includes much more than “official” selections.

We’re happy to host Catharine MacIntosh’s Body Language during the first half of September, 2010, with a reception on Wednesday, Sept 8. This show – at once sexy, funny, sensational and boldly revealing – features a limited number of large, hand-printed wood panels. Each panel contains a random variation of the 64 spontaneous images that make up her orgiastic Sexuality Series. This series of fun, energetic line-works depicts all manner of sexual situations, positions and intriguing suggestions. Big sexy fun! (See the Calendar of this site for details.)

Last Weekend: Survival of the Fittest

Robb and Deena were gonna get married and have their wedding party at 165. Robb called off the marriage at last minute. Nevertheless Deena was determined to go ahead with the party and have an art show of work she made during the 7-year relationship. And the party, it did happen – and both Robb and Deena were in attendance, along with all their friends. And we had a blast! A rollercoaster of emotions, but a blast all in all.
