24.Aug.2010 Upcoming: The Sexuality Series

We’re happy to host Catharine MacIntosh’s Body Language during the first half of September, 2010. This show – at once sexy, funny, sensational and boldly revealing – features a limited number of large, hand-printed wood panels. Each panel contains a random variation of the grid of 88 spontaneous images that make up her orgiastic Sexuality Series. This series of fun, energetic line-works depicts all manner of sexual situations, positions and intriguing suggestions. Big sexy fun! (See the Calendar of this site for details.)

19.Aug.2010 Last Weekend: Survival of the Fittest

Robb and Deena were gonna get married and have their wedding party at 165. Robb called off the marriage at last minute. Nevertheless Deena was determined to go ahead with the party and have an art show of work she made during the 7-year relationship. And the party, it did happen – and both Robb and Deena were in attendance, along with all their friends. And we had a blast! A rollercoaster of emotions, but a blast all in all.

06.Jul.2010 PsyGeo Workshop DAY THREE: Someone Else’s Shoes

Psygeo Session 3

This workshop is essentially an opportunity to build a new urban awareness. It’s a toolbox full of fun, creative strategies for recreating yourself and exploring urban existence with new eyes. … We started with an historical intro to psychogeography and went on to discuss contemporary urban life and our personal perspectives on urban living. Then we actively explored the idea of the wander (aka a dérive) – taking loosely planned fieldtrips through various parts of the city, learning to be more conscious and critical of how constructed geographies influences our minds and behaviours, while simultaneously pushing ourselves to let go and drift with the poetry of spontaneous movement. … Having gained a certain level of understanding of the psychogeographical effects of our collective wanders, we’ve now entered the public role-playing stage of the workshop. Here we begin to learn how to mentally and physically transition into a kind of alternate personality; to figuratively step into someone else’s shoes and experience the city as someone else. We will continue to explore this technique as we prepare for a final interactive public role-playing scenario. (Stay tuned for more.) …

15.Jun.2010 Psychogeography Workshop DAY ONE

We just wrapped Day One of Project 165’s first Psychogeography Workshop, which took us on an insightful wander (otherwise known as a dérive) into the sprawling maze-like campus of the University of Toronto. Thanks to everyone who committed to the project. You’re all wonderfully passionate and thoughtful participants. – Can’t wait for our next adventure!
