Now in it’s seventh season, Methinks‘ NYC Roadtrip is an artist-run travel service, relational art project and psychogeography experiment designed for fun-lovin’ cultural explorers of all kinds who want to make genuine social connections, get inspired and experience everyday urban existence off the beaten path. This is a collective act of discovery, a participatory space, a unique social zone.
Our friendly, creative, experienced crew – group leaders and support staff, along with many veteran Roadtrippers who travel with us regularly - work together to host the most fun, well-rounded, inspirational urban travel experience possible. Our tours and activities are well planned yet flexible enough to be shaped by spontaneous circumstances and events. These include professional artist studio visits, music nights, street art missions and workshops, wanders, gallery crawls, life-drawing sessions, art parties and culinary forays. Our itinerary is designed to compliment your personal agenda, and we consider all of New York City’s boroughs (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island) in our planning.
As an active participant, we hope you will keep an open mind, respect your fellow travelers, be safe, and remember that, to a large degree, “time and order are out of your control and if you accept this, not only will you have fun but enjoy your trip much more!”
Before we leave Toronto for New York City, we host various events and offer personalized travel assistance to help you get ready for our big journey.
While on the road, our “in-flight” attendants fluff pillows, serve snacks, screen films, host happy hour and generally do their very best to make the most comfy ride possible. We travel in very clean, cozy chartered highway coaches.
Back in Toronto, we invite everybody to participate in a multimedia scrapbook art show that explores individual and collective perspectives on various New York City-inspired subjects (such as mapping, travel as risk-taking, wanderlust, the meta-architecture of street art, the city as playground and urban myth-making).
Above all else, we do our best to make NYC Roadtrip a truly lasting experience, and we hope that all our passengers play an active role in making this happen!

Methinks exists to inspire genuine collectivity and community; to support the social, professional and creative development of emerging artists; to challenge the ways in which culture is made, perceived, supported and consumed, in Toronto and beyond; to promote the importance of travel, risk-taking and adventure in the development of artistic life; and to make radical advancements at the confluence of art, politics, play and daily life.
