Bourgeois Pig
111 E. 7th St.

This cushy beatnik wine bar, swathed in warm red light and adorned with mismatched plush chairs, marble tables and velvet, is a good place for a date or a first night in the city with friends. The menu offers savory fondues and cheese plates, wine, espresso, Belgian beers, cocktails, decadent chocolate drinks with cute names like Josephine and Bianca. Keep in mind, though, this place is not cheap, and the servers seem not to like big groups or customers with shallow pockets. But if you find yourself in the East Village looking for a cozy pitstop after dinner, and you’ve got a few bucks to burn, check it out.
