CALL FOR PROPOSALS
For the New York City Edition of
We Made a Deal with the Devil
Devil’s Night
Oct 30
7pm – 12am
Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition Art Space
Red Hook, Brooklyn

PROPOSAL DEADLINE: OCT 26

Methinks is seeking performance art and installation proposals from independent artists and collectives of all stripes – especially those committed to the development of fun, innovative and creative storytelling – for the New York City edition of We Made a Deal with the Devil, a touring art show hard on the heels of a month-long tour of Eastern Canada.

Inspired by “La Chasse-galerie” – a cautionary French-Canadian legend about a group of 19th-century voyageurs who make a deal with the Devil to ride a flying canoe home for an annual New Year’s Eve party – this project encourages you to embark on a wild hunt for inspiration through the deep woods of urban and rural folklore, collective memory, mythmaking, adventure and risk.

Possible points of entry include: tales of ghosts and haunted houses; legends of mysterious beasts (such as Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, etc); and stories about crusty old hermits scaring neighborhood children, lunatic hitchhikers and alien abduction.

The theme is open to interpretation.  Have fun with it!

HOW TO PROPOSE:

The proposal process is simple. Send an email to methinkspresents@gmail.com. Please include in your email:

- A brief (2 sentences – 1 paragraph) description of your proposed project.

- Technical requirements.

- A few images of your proposed work, or similar work, or a link to your website.

* NOTE: This is a one-night exhibition/party situation.  We are looking for projects that are easy to install, execute and strike. Low maintenance is key. Interactivity and fun are the bottom line.
